Awakened One in Buddha Abides Exhibition

A little mosaic, Awakened One, is 5x5" and made with Mexican smalti and millefiori. It was created for a group show, Buddha Abides, which will open Saturday, May 1, 2010, 5-7 pm, at The Frameworks Gallery, 813 Anacapa St. in Santa Barbara, CA and run until May 29. If you're a local, come on by!

Love this:) Your peaceful monochromatic subject could have been too calm and yet you chose to place him on a dynamic diagonal ... that along with the repetition on the mili really make this exciting. Your sophisticated design sense and compositional skills have really done a LOT with a little.... 5x5? Wow. Good job girl.

  5. I think of this Buddha as more feminine. I read on-line that according to Buddhist scripture, Blue Buddha is the Buddha of medicine and healing, the color blue symbolizing coolness, infinity and ascension. You have captured that feeling in this mosaic. I love it!
