Mosaic #2 is done and onto #3

Mosaic #2 went pretty good! I'm really happy with it. Took me 60 hours exactly (my goal) and only 16 days. I will be done with the book by next May if I keep this up!!

The design for number three was another challenge for me. I had more perspective issues and many other problems with the composition that stretched the designing time out to 18 hours! (compared to 10 or 11 for the other two). I’m working on mesh and will not grout the mosaics until they are all finished so that I can make last minute changes if I need to.

This mosaic features my husband and our cat, Raymi, both of whom had to pose so I could take photos of them and use them as reference! Hopefully I can make the mosaic look enough like Greg – I haven’t done too many mosaics of people yet, and none of them were men. Here’s what I’ve done so far of Raymi.

  1. I am just seeing that you are doing a children's book (which is a dream of mine too!). I can not wait for this to be done and in print and able to purchase...can I be first in line? I love everything so far and as I was catching up on all your post about it, little London is sitting here with me say, "Clock" and "Cat"...hee hee You are truly so talented Christine, I am so excited for you and for the challenge you are putting on yourself. Keep up the fantastic work!

  2. Thanks so much, Shellie! I would LOVE to see your work in a book! That is so cute that London is naming what he sees. It's a good sign that I'm on the right track :-)

  4. Thank you Stacy! I'm having so much fun creating it! Maybe I will have to do it for a living, haha (wouldn't that be nice?)

  5. You have captured your cat so beautifully Christine. What age group is your book going to be for - I have a 2 and a 3 year old and Isabella loves mosaics and mosaicing already so it would be great to have a mosaic story for her! All the best, Concetta, glitteringshards.com

  6. Thanks Concetta! The book is perfect for all ages. Your 2 and 3 year old will enjoy the pictures, I think! The cat will be on most of the pages and they will really like that. :-)
